NAB UPDATE - March 21, 2013

Spring Happenings in and around the NAB International Office

Happy Easter! With great anticipation, I journey with you and believers around the world as we prepare to celebrate the resurrection of our victorious Lord and Savior.

For this update, I want to provide you several snippets of happenings in and around the International Office. Please use these items as both informational pieces and prayer prompts.

  1. Tony Dunaway continues to serve in Cameroon as NAB’s interim Field Director while missionaries Calvin and Susanne Hohn are on home assignment in North America. He has recently postponed his return trip until April 23, so that he can represent NAB at a memorial service in Cameroon for former NAB missionary, Kathy Kroll, who spent over 38 years of her life working with Cameroonian people.

  2. The General Council of the North American Baptist Conference meets May 16-18, at Lincoln Hills Community Church, Lincoln, CA. A recent conference call, hosted by Bob Fast, Moderator of the Executive Committee, served to prepare regional moderators and representatives for the discussions that will occur during those days.

  3. The 2013 Spring Missions Offering is focusing our attention on how God is opening doors for NAB to REACH THE NEXT NATIONS NOW! As a conference of churches, we hope that every NAB church will use this campaign to connect to what God is doing through NAB around the world.

  4. Rob McCleland is currently in Brazil teaching leadership development courses with NAB pastor Dr. Dana Goodnough, Senior Pastor of Pittsford Community Church. In 2012, NAB trained nearly 175 Brazilian pastors in leadership development, and this opportunity builds on that previous event. Rob will also attend the Chain of Love annual board meetings in Brazil.

  5. Nick and Iris arrived safely in East Asia. Please continue to pray for Nick and Iris as they secure housing and become engaged in the educational environment where they will work and serve.

  6. Great news! Nearly fifty NAB churches have registered to participate in the Everyday Church initiative led by Cam Roxburgh, Vice President of Missional Initiatives. While using the book with church leadership teams and introducing congregations to the concepts found within the book through a preaching series on I Peter, pastors will help their churches discover ways to effectively reach people in the context of everyday life. Visit the NAB website,www.nabconference.org, for more information about getting involved.

  7. In connection with Hispanics for Christ, Norm Poehlke, Vice President of Ministry Outreach, is visiting mission partnership in Argentina and Paraguay over the next week. This trip will help Norm envision how to help NAB churches create global partnerships with churches and create a movement to reach new nations for Jesus Christ.
