Carol’s primary life objective is "to know Christ and make him known" to all age groups. Carol has a passion for Japan and the Japanese people group. She feels called to work with them, and will go wherever God is leading her to follow the objective He has placed on her heart.
Carol's previous mission service in Japan from 1973 through 1975 had significant impact in shaping her faith and ministry prespective.
Carol holds a Bachelor of Arts from Upper Iowa University, Fayette, IA and Masters of Arts from Sioux Falls Seminary (formerly known as North American Baptist Seminary), Sioux Falls, SD.
Carol has wide ministry experience in North America and globally in areas including missions, teaching (Junior High/Senior High and also college/university/seminary levels), youth ministry, and church leadership.
Carol has also been involved with Gateway Teams as both a team leader and as a trainer.
Carol served 9 years as Associate Dean of Students and Assistant Professor of CE at Taylor College (formerly known as North American Baptist College) in Edmonton, AB and most recently completed over 10 years of service in the NAB International Office as Leader of Recruitment and Care, NAB Ministry Outreach.
On April 2, 2009 Carol Potratz accepted her appointment as a Continued Term Missionary to Japan!
Carol arrived in Japan on June 17, 2010. Carol will be working with youth (and adults) at the Tsu English Center, Tsu, Japan, creatively using English in practical ways to evangelize and disciple.  The Center is right across the street from Mie University and strategically located to use in a variety of ways.
